My great grandfather would have me bake him his favourite shortbread recipe every time I would visit him. It was our favourite time of day, smelling the fresh baked shortbread coming out of the oven. His shortbread recipe was from his own grandmothers' recipe book.
From the MANY times I baked those cookies from that recipe book, I could bake anything from scratch off the top of my head. This carried onwards into my adult life, where I trained and baked for companies here & overseas. I eventually came back home and for every Christmas I would bake for family & friends who would ask for these cookies every year. I soon expanded to baking for markets around Christmas time.
This is only a fraction of the stories & recipes handed to me over the years. I would take the traditional ones and add a little of my "magic" to the flavour profiles, and Heirloom Shortbread & Baked Goods continues its tastebud takeover.
